Fabric Printing in Edinburgh
High-quality fabric printing for businesses in Edinburgh, Scotland. From our base in İstanbul we supply customers across Scotland with digital, sublimation and screen printing — sustainable, precise and on schedule.
How does fabric printing for Edinburgh work? We print your fabric at our facility in İstanbul using digital, sublimation or screen printing. The fibre composition decides which method applies. The process begins with a sample print and your colour approval; production and quality control follow, then the printed cloth ships to Edinburgh.

Our printing techniques for Edinburgh
| Method | Best fabric | Run size | Colours | Strength | Limit |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Digital | Cotton, polyester, blends | Small to large | Unlimited | No setup cost; photographic artwork and gradients | Unit price falls little with volume |
| Sublimation | Polyester and polyester-rich blends | Small to large | Unlimited | Dye enters the fibre; high wash fastness, handle unchanged | Not on cotton, not on dark grounds |
| Screen | Wide range; solid areas and repeating motifs | Economical at higher volumes | One screen per colour | Strongest on dark grounds; unit price drops sharply at volume | Screen prep is a fixed cost; expensive with many colours |
Give us your colour target as a Pantone reference and we work to the same benchmark throughout the run. Where a project needs a sustainability credential, we agree which standard applies at the outset – for example OEKO-TEX.
Why Source İstanbul for Edinburgh?
Much of the Scottish work involves heritage patterns reworked for contemporary collections. We are clear about what print can and cannot do: paisley began as a printed motif, so print is native to it; tartan is a woven structure, and printed flat it reads as an image of tartan.
Textile and Manufacturing in Scotland
The town of Paisley gave its name to the teardrop motif that became a staple of printed textiles worldwide — a rare case of a pattern named after the place that mass-produced it. The Scottish Borders built a reputation for knitwear and cashmere that still commands premium prices, while Harris Tweed remains protected by its own Act of Parliament. Dundee was once the centre of the jute trade, and Glasgow and Edinburgh today host design studios and independent labels working in smaller runs. Enquiries from Scotland often involve heritage patterns being reworked for contemporary collections — which is work we enjoy.

Fabric Printing in Edinburgh: Frequently Asked Questions
Can you print traditional patterns such as tartan or paisley?
We can print them, and the results can be very good — but be clear about what you are asking for. Tartan is a woven structure: the colours interlace, which gives the cloth its depth. Printed on a flat ground it reads as an image of tartan rather than tartan itself. For paisley the situation is different — it began as a printed and woven motif, so print is a native medium for it. Tell us which effect you are after and we will say honestly what is achievable.
We need small quantities for a first collection — is that possible?
Yes. Digital printing is economical at low volumes, so a first collection or a capsule range is realistic. Screen printing carries a fixed screen-preparation cost, which makes small runs less attractive there. Tell us the quantity and how many colours the artwork uses and we will tell you plainly which is cheaper for you.
Which is cheaper, digital or screen printing?
The tipping point is quantity and colour count. Screen printing needs a screen per colour, which is a fixed setup cost, but printing afterwards is fast — so on low-colour, high-volume work the unit price drops sharply. Digital has no setup cost and unlimited colours, but the unit price barely falls with volume. Tell us your quantity and how many colours the artwork uses and we will work out which is cheaper for you.
What colour profile should artwork be supplied in?
RGB usually gives a better result than artwork already converted to CMYK; digital presses convert into their own gamut, and an early CMYK conversion flattens vivid tones. For critical colours, do not rely on the file — give us a Pantone reference instead. File colour varies from screen to screen; a Pantone number does not.
Is all the metreage we order usable?
Some cloth is consumed at the start and end of the run for machine setup, and sections may be removed during quality control. On quantity-critical jobs we therefore suggest ordering slightly above your requirement. We tell you upfront how much allowance is sensible for your fabric and chosen method.
